Students of the Month

Each month during the school year the Bartlesville Rotary Club hosts two outstanding high school students at each of the club’s meetings.  Meredith LeMaster, youth service chair, introduces the students with a brief biographical presentation at the first meeting of the month, and the students themselves speak to the club about their Rotary experience, school activities and career goals at the last meeting of the month.

At the end of the school year, one Student of the Month is selected by the club to receive a $1000 college scholarship.

The Rotary Students of the Month for April 2010 are Rebecca Mount and Ethan Voelkers.

Rebecca is the daughter of Alan & Jill Mount. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the BHS Select Choir and a Choir Council representative. Rebecca serves as a student athletic trainer for BHS teams and is a member of Dewey United Methodist Church.

Ethan is the son of Jim & Rhonda Voelkers. He is a member of the National Honor Society, a performer in the BHS orchestra and an Eagle Scout.  A versatile athlete, Ethan is a member of the high school cross country and track teams as well as a member of the BHS swim team and the Bartlesville Adult Soccer League. He is a deacon at First Presbyterian Church.

The Rotary students of the month – both seniors and juniors are eligible – are chosen by a committee of BHS teachers. The students should be of high moral character, have initiative, show leadership capabilities, be good students, and be active and interested in their school and community. One boy and one girl are selected each month from September through May.
